Gtk# on Mac OS X revisited

So much for the fuss with getting Gtk# installed. I threw out the Mono framework package this evening, reinstalled it and the Gtk# packages from Fink, and now it all just works. No mucking with DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH and miscellaneous symlinks involved.

I’m looking forward to writing first class Windows apps on OS X.

      Laptop

      Hi Jace,

I am interested in getting a laptop for my uncle (age74, computer newbie, lives in a small toen in India) - what in your opinion would be suitable? I am considering one of the following options:
AMD turion based procesor with Windows
Intel Centrino based procesor with Windows
      Anything from the Mac stable.

      Considerations:

      1. Easy to use for the user concerned.
      2. Probable uses - Word processing, mail, browsing, blogging, making drawings (engineering type diagrams - for showing design of any fabrication, like a solar heater etc).
      3. Having ability to type in local languages (tamil) would be desirable.
      4. Price (not too important).

Looking forward to your reply. And thanks in advance.

        Selva,

I don't know if I can offer you much useful advice. I use a Mac, like it, and recommend it highly. I know little of other brands or other operating systems.

Ah, the angry young man speaks. Has it occurred to you that my target platform may not be Mac OS X?
