Localised FM advertising

The Big FM ads in Hyderabad don’t have a celebrity endorser and aren’t in the local language, unlike as in Bangalore, where they promise to play mostly Kannada. Curious.

    And that strategy is paying off for Radio BIG in Bangalore. They have well known TV and Theater people on board and their RJ quality is better than most. They know how to do good programming(?) in Kannada, unlike Radio City where the kannada programs were only to “appease”. They saw ad-revenues going the way of Rainbow and other kannada channels. Of late their kannada programming has picked up quite a bit in quality.

    Kannada sells in Bangalore contrary to what Radio city and ToI would like us to believe.

      Radio Indigo is good but still it doesn’t have enough market.
      Radio BIG has a bigger advantage in reaching the people in smaller cities too.

    Axshully, there is a celebrity endorser. That’s Asin. Currently the flavour of the month in Tamil films, soon to be exported to Telegu and Hindi.

      She is already big in Telugu. She took Malayalam -> Telugu -> Thamizh route.
