The not so far outdoors

24062006(003)
By the Lalbagh tank.
I have been told
not by one but two of my lovers
that I've got a heart of gold
but I'm unable to share it with others
They call me a poet who'll never have a poem
a tiger with no taste for bone
I'm the wonderful, wonderful wizard of waltzing alone

— The Guggenheim Grotto, Wonderful Wizard

I came to Lalbagh West Gate to pick up [info]brainz but his bus was delayed an hour two hours, so went walking in Lalbagh.

This place is so awesome in the mornings. No families tugging kids and their toys along, no couples looking apprehensively like you’ll disturb their privacy, just utterly fit people, all in action. It’s inspiring.

I wish I lived somewhere near enough to come daily. Heck, I think I’m moving.

Bangalore has some amazing public places, but they’re available only to people who live near enough. You can crib about how crappy your corner is, or you can move. I’m moving. Really. I think.

you know where you need to move if you want to be close to it. Let me warn you from personal experience though that lalbagh is serene or even tolerable only at uncanny hours or the day...most of the time there are just way too many people doing nothing more than staring at you all the time.

Btw is pradeep going to be around for long? We caught batman returns together last time he was here. There is another super hero movie just around the corner :)

Oh...that's sad. I'd have liked to meet him. I am down with a spectacular cold and slight fever. So no plans. Had come to cscs for a visit to the library and am now leaving for home. will take some medicines that dad insists I take and will just go to sleep. Body aches and mind feels like it has been raped...

It's a large park. Unlikely we'd have walked into each other, no? I was there 9 to 10:40 AM.

Think twice :-) . As someone who has lived in rented places for almost 10 years now, I find Bangalore to be the costliest place when it comes to rents. Not to mention the 10 months security deposit which can really leave a dent in your pocket. However, if you are ganging up with other friends, it might work out to be more cost effective.

Lalbagh is too crowded in the mornings, right from five to eight-thirty or so in the morn. You will be too busy side stepping people to enjoy its beauty

Hmm. I guess there's always the Jayanagar sports ground for backup, unless they close access to that.

what i see is what i get
        everyday:
the park bang outside my place is where i used to play, adopt puppies. blissful times say 14 yrs ago....rest house park aka ganja park.
infamous junkie hangout now has play stuff for kids. earlier there was a small sorta tunnel (still there) to keep my puppies. tho' no great shakes this one besides prime location, i love to see ppl on lunch breaks and tiffin here.

        top rated:
the park near petrol bunk close to airlines hotel has swings! dude, i stop there to play when i happen to pass it along my way. it rocks. small gazebo n all. you'd never know it could be sooooooo nice and just off a busy road too.

        sometimes rarely:
dude, lal bagh is huge and peopled.
you musta gone at some auspicious moment

why you wanna move anyway? you have a national park close by no?

I also have a torrent of traffic freshly redirected my way. Not good no matter how I look at that.

wah that must suck. bangalore's going to bust it feels like.

i'm happy at least my kids will get to use the metro, a/c buses, streets without rickshaws (wishful thinking)
