At the Bangalore Photography Club's exhibition

I brought a camera to the concert too, but they wouldn’t let me take it in. Apparently the rules don’t apply to everyone.

The exhibition has a few nice pictures. It’s worth a visit.

The photo from the concert looks like it was taken by someone who was quite close to the stage. Reminds me of the old Lennon saying: “People in the cheaper seats clap your hands. The rest of you just rattle your camera gear.”

Are you saying camera gear is the new bling? I’m ready to place my order for the jewel studded D70 with a gold plated body, and platinum lenses…

I am saying that the richer people seem to be allowed to bring their camera gear to the concert while our [info]jace was specifically prohibited from bringing his gear along.

Someone at the exhibition said that person had been hired as the official photographer, on condition that he not use those pictures commercially for at least six months – but it’s only been a couple of months.

I saw lots of people using cameras that day. Even if they were all IIMB students, it was pretty demeaning to have them wander around like that. The ticket said use of cameras was prohibited, which I would have been willing to honour, but they wouldn’t even let me take it in – and I was carrying a camera like I do every day, not with specific intent. They finally conceded to letting me in minus batteries.

This wasn’t the sort of respect for civil liberties I was expecting from IIM.
