Mud-slinging extravaganza
The BLUG is organising a special meeting for the explicit purpose of pinning up dirty laundry and getting it muckier. I’ve been summoned to the proceedings and been asked to conduct myself with grace and rationality. Not wanting to be a sitting duck however, I plan to spend the day absconding, thumbing my nose at them.
See, I understand I’m something of a mini-celebrity these days, but when people plan entire gatherings around my presence without bothering to notify me until the last moment, that is a whole new high.
Will they put up an effigy and throw knives at it?

If I spent more time in the kitchen, I'd have these on my shopping list by now.

Who is this guy Atul Chutneys ?
Is he someone worth paying attention to ?
Just from reading few of his posts,
it sounds like he wants to be the
chief spokesperson for anything remotely
related to computing in Bangalore.
Is he a learned man ? Is he a CS researcher ?
Or somone riding the BLUG for fame and fortune ?
Barry

Why don't you go there and ask, or on their lists? And mind your spellings, or it'll be an unfruitful exercise.
No muck-raking in my journal, please.

now he is pissed off because the best ever barcamp in the world was held in bengalooru without him at the helm - and the reason for success was that the organisers were dumb enough to ignore his advice

You realise that since noone will turn up, certain parties will declare the righteousness of their stand by default. Not that it really matters in the greater scheme of things.
That said, I'm not turning up either.

there is this newfangled thingie called the internet - my daughter told me there is something called a wiki, where ppl can have discussions. Could some of the younger people around here organise a discussion ... toolz, the new bluggies, and us old farts? Q and A?
say_yes04 — Apr 29, 2006 1:18:02 PM — # ↩
The Blug's moved on from those days. I think today its largely directed by people like
It wasn't meant to be a summon, it was meant to be "Lets sort things out if you are free" kinda thing afaik, atleast on the list. Anyway, we both have better things to do than discuss on this probably never ending story.

I know today's meet is for precisely this sort of question, but I don't care enough to bother coming. If the BLUG wants old-timers back, it needs to be more sincere.
louiswu — Apr 29, 2006 4:56:27 PM — # ↩
I don't know about the "BLUG" being more sincere. I liked the way the community was before[*], and I find I find it sad that a community that could mean (even do) something is held back by things most of the people in the current community aren't even completely aware of.
[1] As for tranparency and policies, I also believe they should be well-defined and followed.

OK, my break time's up. Gotta get back to work now =(

As for the summons thingie - how am I supposed to know about a meeting where I am expected to attend - I am not a member of blug lists and no mail was sent to me. Some one casually mentioned the thing to me yesterday asking if I was attending. Thats when I heard of it.

Where there is money, there are rifts.
If only Mr. Atul was clever as most of the things that he has written(not his speeches!)...
