Where do logos come from?

Linux Bangalore UN Global Compact

At left, the Linux Bangalore event logo. At right, the United Nations Global Compact program logo. Did one derive from the other? Were they both inspired by another source?

The book from which he stole from claimed "Its a fact, non fiction". I guess tomorrow I write New delhi is the capitol of India, somebody can sue me for already writing it before?

thats why the judge threw out the case. You cant sue from non-fiction.

Never could get to read it, but the premise of "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" sounds like fiction to me. :-P

Anyways these books are too uncatholic for my taste.

Lets just say fame attracts a lot of ppl and I think the ppl who sued him partially thought they deserved a little attention.

Anyway if you thought "he got away"... all I got to say is "If it makes you sleep at night"

It's remarkable how similar the colour schemes in both are.

The colours were chosen from the colours of the indian flag - saffron, blue and green against the white background and the colours were further adjusted such that they look well on a grey scale. Wonder what is the significance of colours in compact global symbol.

Did the past happen before the future or did the future happen before the past. Does time exist? Or is it an invention of our limited minds trying to make sense of this incomprehensible reality?

I think I need to get more sex.

Logos are tricky. Especially in the terrain of Technology, computers, IT and stuff.
Most designers get their inspiration from pretty much the same sources - Art (paintings/movies/music), nature. And then they play with it, tweak it a bit here and there, add a little extra element.
Am I even making sense here?
I just meant to say that even though the two logos you show seem similar, I wouldn't think this is a case of plagiarism or "homage"

Swati and Atul have clarified that the globe came off a clipart library. Back in 2001, there was no reasonable way to check for other usage. It's also the reason Foss.in doesn't use the globe.

Ah yes, Cliparts. I personally have a thing against Clip-arts and stock-photos. But that is the one thing that keeps my art partner sane and alive. guess we can't run away from what we hate
