Cycling

Last night I stumbled upon the site of Mr Pumpy, wherein Felix Hude writes about his experiences bicycling around the world. I was immediately reminded of Pete in Cambodia, who cycled from London to Istanbul, and Paul Keller, who was in Bangalore two weeks last November and rode a cycle everywhere.

Heck, it sounds like a good way to get in shape while getting around. If only…

I’ve owned three bicycles in the past decade. I don’t have one now. I’d like to, but am not sure where it’ll fit in my day—each of the previous three exited when my routine changed and they fell into disuse.

Does anyone have a cycle I can borrow for a few weeks?

Still remember ur ATB - Black one, you guys shifted house from JC road to a far off place...and you used to ride 11 kms in what was called chaotic traffic in b'lore then !! (god knows if u can manage the same route on cycle now)...and trust me, people like me thought it was a great feat !..

The best part was that you and bro had the same type of cycle, in school, and more or less competed with each other.....Man!!...those were the days...

Mine was an MTB. The wimps on ATBs couldn't take its weight. ;-)

I have an all-aluminium cycle. I initially thought I'd go to work every day (3kms x 2). I was not consistent with that. Right now, I use my cycle mostly for local chores, shopping etc. I have however managed taking it to work 3-4 times a month.

The scary part is before I bought this one, I had borrowed a cycle from a friend. It got stolen piece by piece; first the rear wheel and then before I could replace that, the whole thing just disappeared!

Anyways, if you guys are into it, we could do weekend cycle trips to random places.

Give me a few weeks to get used to riding, and then perhaps yes.

Btw, know Shree Kumar? He cycles around the country when he can. Fun!

Didn't know him, but added his feed.

Which reminds me... time to extract my GPS tracks. The damned USB-serial cable driver doesn't work with my Garmin in Mac OS X, so I have to run Windows in Virtual PC to access it. It's bizarre and painful.
