Petronas

When I stepped out of KL Sentral Stesen looking for the YMCA, the Petronas towers were visible behind it. “Ah! They’re just around the corner,” I thought happily.

Later in the evening, halfway across the city, they still looked just around the corner.

    "Sentral Stesen" sounds like all the European variations for "Central Station" that we are getting used to here: Roma Termini, Barcelona Sants, Nice Ville, Paris... hmm, Paris is something else.

        ... which makes it quite similar to Norwegian, Dutch, German and English (the Germanic languages.) Indonesia was Dutch; now they have the Latin texted Bahasa which I assume has Dutch characteristics... but what about Malay?

          Malay uses the Roman alphabet too. But Malaysia was a British colony and governed as part of India, so the Germanic spelling is curious.

        It actally is Teksi and not Taksie. Most of the words (in Malay) are spelled out the way they are pronounced. So Bus becomes Bas, Post becomes Pos and so on. Welcome to KL and hope you are enjoying your stay here. - Shiva

              Thanks, Shiva. I'm doing fine, but it would be nice to meet up one of these days. Occasion to get around and see different parts of the city.
