This is the second Ganesh procession I’m seeing tonight, heading for the lake. The first dumped their idol some ten minutes ago. Both were rather large and coloured (possibly toxic), which can’t be very good for the lake’s native population of fish and duck.

Ah ha! That explains the screaming I heard yesterday evening.

Today’s Deccan Herald has a picture of devotees dumping an idol amidst dead fish.

Aieee, you should have seen Hussain Sagar, around 10,000 idols have been immersed in a single day.

When did the craze started in B’lore? Hyderabad borrowed it around early 80′s from Bombay after a spate of communal riots.

The worst part is, these idols have presence of heavy metals like Mercury and some of these morons are dumb enough to dump these idols in drinking water source.Imagine, drinking the same water with so much heavy metal content. *sigh*
