We’re at Coffee Day. The waiter came to take the order carrying something that looked like credit card swipe machine. Then he gave us a bill and said this was just a confirmation and we didn’t have to pay until leaving. Took us a couple of minutes to figure it out. Turns out this is their fancy new “WiFi Integrated Online Billing System”.

  how cool is that. In SG, some of the McD’s have guys going about with PDAs and taking orders. It syncs wirelessly to mother-ship and the order is processed.

  One of the coolest things (at that time) I saw a couple of years back at Atlanta Bread was their RF order alert pager.
  
  When you place an order you get handed a small disc shaped pager thingy which you take with you to your table. When your order is ready it lights up and vibrates like a mobile phone; you turn it in and pick up the order.
