Trust me, you don’t want your URL on the front page of the Times. Not, given the number of people who think you are an exotic creature they want to be buddies with.

I’m having a busy, interesting and not very pleasant time for reasons other than that article. [info]latelyontime and I have barely slept the last two days, staying up nights fiddling with suitware.

I need a vacation. It’s about time.

Thanx. It's not particularly flattering eh. I was hoping to see something about his photography, or his research instead.

I thought it stated it rather matter-of-fact-ly. The online piece is trimmed down. The print version was an attempt to explore geek culture and profiled a few others, but ended before getting to making a point.

I would be very concerned about a piece that talked about my photography and research and made me appear as an eligible bachelor.

Even the online version did not make you out to be an elegible bachelor! Your internet romance has weight, since the relationship has transcended the net now ;-)

I think the article was trying to illustrate how real life can be extremely different from online life for some folks who maintain two personalities. Nothing subtle about its title! Since I haven't met you yet, I can't say. There's plenty of blog addicts like me who are, as [info]fatmuttony once put it, "All there": i.e. nothing different about me IRL.

Sounded more like an article picking up some oft-e-buzzed names, but lest I offend Assisi or someone else, let me stop there.

I'm getting scared of commenting on your public posts now.

You could say the same of Madhav. Online, people call him Madhav. He doesn't particularly cherish his privacy. There is not an iota of deceit in him.

He can, however, put everything written here in two or three words...

(You know, I had a lot of ideas for this but I have to run into a meeting so I'll leave it in this horribly unfinished state ;)

No, Charles based his profile on descriptions from my former colleagues -- real people I worked with for nearly two years -- and checked everything with me before committing it. There's nothing sneaky about this.

I just wasn't expecting the fallout of a URL on the front page in anchor news position -- something which still baffles me. Variety news is usually at the bottom of the front page. "You want to print my URL? Umm, yeah, sure. It's a public journal anyway." I'm not sure I'd like it happen again.

Not that it's that bad; just that it's a matter of inviting the unwashed masses to your door and among other things, giving them a place to spill their general feelings about ToI.

I guess its indeed scary ' to be read ' by so many people as being exotic, lol, and then ward off the zillion who want to be buddies, lol.
The paper gave a Dr.Jekyll and Hyde comparison though, which i think is a little too harsh.

if you want the actual print article, u could go to

Ah well, you might as well make the most of it and outline a couple of business propositions just in case someone worthwhile drops by.
