Cricket in the playground

Cricket, the subcontinent’s favourite sport. The rare outdoor game that lends itself to being played in just about any strip of ground, whether narrow lane, office corridor, traffic island at a busy intersection, or playground. There must have been at least ten teams stuffed into this ground near the GPO in Pune.

Much as I detest the sport, I think a ground full of people playing simultaneous cricket matches is one of the best sights ever.

The dust, the screams, the shouts and the mix ups are like reality tv but much better.

Reminds me of the boys playing cricket near the lighthouse at Marina Beach. Didn't really care for the cricket or the boys but the associated memories are good.
