Marine Drive, Bombay

Marine Drive, South Bombay, with Malabar Hill in the backdrop. Bombay’s coastline is made of several little bays. This one from Nariman Point to Malabar Hill is the second from the southern tip. Malabar Hill is the most expensive real estate in the country. Thanks to
Variations of this picture without that car blocking the view were lost to camera shake. I was hurrying to the LJ meet, the light was failing, and I didn’t notice the low shutter speed. More pictures later.

While in Mumbai in september, I ran along the Marine Dr every morning around 7:00am. Perfect! This reminds me to select and post some of my pics from then.
(in response to a query from a couple of posts ago) Just walk around and shoot. Bombayites are super friendly! particularly if you are willing to strike up a conversation with them. here, Chowpatty, and Gateway of India (in South Mumbai) would be perfect places to walk and shoot.

I saw a couple of kids on the pavement somewhere near Rustom's. Both put to bed, and yet still playing. I thought it was a cute picture of kids being kids, completely oblivious to their surroundings and social status. Then their mother appeared and I asked if I could have a picture, and she started shouting, insisting I go away immediately.
That's the first time somebody's taken offence at me taking a picture. Man, was she aggressive! Her voice is still rattling in my head.

Btw, I liked the pic very much. I was wondering how the result would be with the little light.. but it appeals to me a lot.
Ps, Nariman Point used to be the most expensive commercial real estate I think. Not anymore obviously! And Malabar Hill sure would be.. with the Birlas and Ambanis planning to shift there now~ :-)
