Yeah, the similarity between me and Dave Winer is that we are both pricks. We simply don't match up to your "high standards" of under-graduate, idle intellect (which is your definition of a prick).

With all due respect, this is the part that freaks the crap out of me. So you imply that Jace's behavior over the past seven years has been "neurotic" -- pray, why then would you (both) pretend you (both) were good buddies? Why couldn't you er, "pull the plug" in year # 1, or ... year # 2 ... or ... year # 3 ... or ... if things have been OK for the past 6.x years, why would you not rather say, "The last six days/weeks/months/whatever has been neurotic", instead?

Been following this thread for a while. Disgusted enough to reply to it, something I didn't plan to do.

From you? I'd normally anticipate some sort of private reaction, as in "loud, screaming obscenity laden email sent in private, attempts to bully someone into shutting up by complaining to their boss, etc".
Or if on a list that you have any kind of control over, it'd be "moderate him out, boot him out of the list, he dared to disagree with ME!!!".
I have never seen someone try to hold a LUG under such tight control that idiots who want to respond to you but get moderated out are forced into forging email in another poster's name to the list (about a year or so ago, right?) ...
That, of course, is stupid on the guy's part - but even stupider on your part, because you managed to create a situation where such things have to take place. Even more stupid of you to close down a whole LUG list for a week or more because of such issues.
You do assiduously try to maintain a charming, urbane *public* / media image though. I'll give you that. The real Atul does manage to show through pretty often, of course ... can't help that, can you?

I have been a BLUG member for sometime now. I had a look at the Qs you had asked. Seemed very relevant, infact I've seen many members asking these very questions silently!
Any of the BLUG managers should have answered them or atleast given a reason why they will not answer them. The BLUG these days doesn't seem to be as "open" as it seems from the outside.

Read it. It was interesting ... and I have this strange sense of deja vu from over two years back on the LI-* lists.
executive summary: a 700+ post flamewar I had with Atul, that ended up in his threatening to call my boss, my boss's CEO, group chairman etc and get me fired ...
I see (from threads here and offlist) that good old Bikachu Beamon [1] hasn't lost any of his cute and lovable (?) nature yet.

But, when a person calmly asks some valid questions on a public forum, he deserves a correct reply that "answers" those questions. Not just glossing over them or changing the subject and asking people to "lets get on with our work". That is called escaping from the truth.
