Don't you hate it that despite how long instant messengers have been around, several people still start conversations with the old school formalities of "How are you?" and "I'm fine."?
An instant messenger conversation is meant to be like a real life conversation held in unreal-time, not like a letter you write once a month to someone a long distance away. When will people start to grasp this etiquette?

but what do you do if the process of thinking remains the same?
ie; you feel the same concern for a person and wonder how the person is immeterial of wether the last time you've heard from from that person is a month or a couple of minutes?
why i even sometimes ask my people how they are when i see them, three times a day!
ah, but i guess it could get annoying when the concern is not genuine and the question is asked out of habbit... or even listening to it reapeatedly even when it's genuine does it too.
