The LiveJournal meetup happened today. In attendance were [info]cyanna, [info]davecorun, [info]fuso13, [info]holyjes, [info]yeimi and myself. I got the honor of turning up first and telling the people who run the place that I was here for a get-together and I didn't know how many people were coming or even who was coming. Then everyone turned up and I did the usual sit-in-the-corner-and-stare-at-everybody routine.

[info]cyanna was right: my new haircut looks terrible. Either I shed more or tolerate it until it grows back:
(L to R) davecorun, holyjes, yeimi, jace, cyanna and fuso13

Eh, don't be so hard on yourself. I thought the hair looked fine. ;)

    Nice meeting you tonight!

Haha... that's so cute. But you did talk quite a bit when *we* met, you know.

        yipee-ti-yi-yay.

i did a major purge of my friends list a few days ago, deleting all those people whose entries always began "I am so depressed today...." etc. glad to replace them with some quality!

and hey, i really do look like a little head growing off dave's shoulder in that picture. its hilarious.

Reminds me of my early months with LJ when I used it to rant about how depressed I was. Then LJ started to get popular and almost every journal I saw was filled with someone's tales of woe. At first it just got me more depressed about the sad state of teenage lives everywhere, but I soon figured I'd just stop putting my sorrows online and ignore those who do, and the world looked like a much better place.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's noticed this.

            Re:
well i've done my fair share of ranting when unhappy, especially during last november and december when i was living in no-social-life just-stopped-drinking hell in OHIO, of all places. but I think there is a big difference between frustration and unhappiness that stems from a particular source, and that kind of teenage-angsty "i'm gonna be sad because it seems to be the cool thing to do, and it makes me look deep, and hey, if kurt cobain did it.........." esp those ones from teenage girls which are always about, "boys dont like me, i am so ugly, i tried to talk to this boy today and just couldnt i was so shy, he wouldnt have liked me anyway, and chris carreba from dashboard confessional really GETS me" or some such bullshit.

            you know?
you've been on here forever havent you?

Curiously enough, I've never seen that.

Depression, yes, Kurt Cobian fans, yes (even my brother), but never angst for the coolness of it. Maybe it's a culture thing.

I have seen a lot of geek types who frequently bitch about how full of crap all technology is (including me), and that does seem to be a culture thing.

It was awesome meeting you Jace!!! And I didn't mean your haircut was horrible, I meant I liked your hair better in the pictures where it was LONG. Long hair rocks! And everyone always cuts it. Makes me sad :(.

Let me know if you ever want to hang out around town, now that I'm not an 'unknown element' any longer :) :)

I cut it because it was getting unmanageable. I fully intend to grow it back. :) Just hope the summer and having hair curl into ears doesn't get to me before it is long enough to tie a band around.

And hang out, yes, though I have just a week left now before I fly out, and it's going to be a very busy week.

I have less than a week left now before I leave and it's time to do some shopping for family and friends.

I'm however clueless on where I can get what and even what generally makes for giftable American memorabilia. Could I ask you for some help with that? I'm at 410.685.7579 or 410.502.7537 (details here).

I think you need to cut it again..or use some oil. Its seem to be in some intermediate stage right now.

Scared? I've been using LiveJournal longer than any of them. I've been to several LJ get-togethers. This was their first.

No sir, I wasn't scared. I was simply putting all my brain power into decoding the accent and social context; there wasn't much left to put together my thoughts on the topic, frame a sentence and speak it out.

They were a really nice bunch, besides.
