Everybuddy would look nicer if it had coloured nicks, like GnomeICU. Wonder what's the Gtk call for setting a widget's foreground colour.

(Dang Enter key had to be in right under my finger) .. it aborted when finding the requires for gimp-devel, and I don't feel like finding out why. So I'm just going to do a make install and forget about it until the stable 1.4 series comes out.

GIMP RPM building aborted again when finding the requires for gimp-devel. Gah! It

Rebuilding gimp-1.1.19. The last attempt failed because I had some numbers wrong the .spec file. I've hopefully got everything right now.

VSNL sucks today. Getting onto ICQ has been a real pain

Came in this morning to find my box dead. The last entry to the system logs was at 19:17 yesterday. Wonder why it went down... after some 8 days of uptime (X is the cause no doubt -- boxen without X don't go down until they're told or forced to).

Just back from a session of Quake1. What a memory trip! Quake1 feels so much better after all these months of Quake2. Sumod and I are considering trying Descent1 multiplayer too now.

Found a nice site for Rush lyrics at www.oceanrush.com/lyrics.html

I need a plugin for XMMS that will download lyrics automatically. Or I need to write such a plugin.

Installing majordomo now. It doesn't seem difficult, just too manual.

Wishlist item: ICQ Corporate support in EveryBuddy

Got the USE_GNOME bit into Everybuddy. The test code was not including the proper directories and therefore was failing. Changing it to simply checking if gnome-config works did the trick

I'm listening to Rush's Chronicles album. It sounds so good today -- much better than ever before. Wonder why.

I'm trying to extend the everybuddy configure process to check for GNOME. I can't seem to get it to work though. Getting stuck at the configure process itself isn't what I had expected. Wonder if there are any good docs available anywhere on the GNU autoconf/automake tools.

I've finally gotten rid of Mandrake broken-GCC. Both the 6.1 and 7.0 releases would break -- the first with a compiler internal error and the second with "no such 386 instruction 'filds'". I've installed the RH6.0 egcs packages instead and they work fine. Finally!

Just logged out and back in to clear the fluff in RAM. The first time in six days!

Just patched driver/configure.in in xscreensaver-3.24. The install routine would bomb when installing xscreensaver.kss because it was using "install -c -s" on what was a shell script (-s means strip symbols). I hope jwz@jwz.org accepts my patch.

Just found this service called MailExpire (thanks, TBTF). It gets you a temporarily e-mail address that lasts for the duration you specify. Great for probing suspect online services.

I conducted an interview today. That's my third in about three months.

This feels very strange... I've faced only as many job interviews in all my life! To recall, the first was with Venkateshwara Rao Nishtala of CyberCash in Bangalore,m November 1998, the second with the HR director of CC a few days later, and the third with Gourav Jaswal of CHIP magazine In December the same year (where I still work).

No wonder then (?) that I repeatedly stammered while trying to put together the words for the next question, while she responded without the slightest hint of nervousness that interviewees are supposed to have.

This feels very strange.

Just got another random page on ICQ saying "hi sweety i am shamin\19\f what about you". I hate these people. Why can't they get a life? (Well, okay, I've made atleast one good friend from someone who random paged me).

Yup, it works. I hadn't confirmed my e-mail address the last time.

I've got the LoserJabber client running now. Hope this works...

Just got a LiveJournal account after noticing a Linux client at FreshMeat. The client likes to segfault though.
